After two acclaimed collaborations, adidas Originals and Alexander Wang are aiming to repeat this success with an industrial-inspired sportswear capsule. The first drop, containing 13 pieces, will be available from April 21.
Alexander Wang and adidas Originals’ first street-influenced collaboration in 2016 was a huge success, followed by a second cycling-style athletic capsule the following year. This time, the two labels want to rethink aesthetic standards, taking inspiration from manufacturing mistakes and accidental defects during the garment design process. The collection will include a series of pieces paying homage to graphic factory processes, with subtle errors on each item, from a crew neck sweater covered with industrial acronyms, faux-crumpled shorts and t-shirt, and two pairs of platform soccer sneakers. With the first lot of promotional content for the line shot during Coachella 2018, we predict a sell-out.
